Greens/EFA consider that the freedom to receive and communicate information without interference of the state authorities is a fundamental principle on which the European Union has been founded and an essential element of democracy as well as pluralism of information media. It is urgent for the EU to define key minimum standards in order to invite Member States to safeguard and promote freedom of information as well as pluralism.
