The Greens/EFA Group urges the Chinese Government to resume the talks with the representatives of the Dalai Lama and to consider the Memorandum for Genuine Autonomy for the Tibetan People. They call on the Chinese Government to release immediately and unconditionally all those detained solely for engaging in peaceful protest and account for all those who have been killed or gone missing and all those detained.

The Greens/EFA are concerned that the failure to hold perpetrators of political killings accountable has a corrosive impact on public confidence in the rule of law and that the killings create a climate in which people in the Philippines cannot feel free to exercise their rights of political expression and association. Although killings have declined considerably, the Greens believe the number of recorded HR violations remains unacceptably high.

The Greens/EFA Group calls for an impartial inquiry into the incident, where, according to reports, the Thai navy intercepted 992 Rohinga and Bangladeshi boat-people bound their hands, removed the boats' engines and towed the refugees into the high sea, where they were abandoned to die. They call for the prosecution of those responsible.
