We are delighted to invite you to the 4th European Green Local Councillors meeting on 17-19 April 2009. Following Vienna and Barcelona, the German city of Stuttgart will host the event, which will focus on the current challenges of economic and climate policy.
This challenge faces not only the EU but also every Member State and at all political levels. Rescue packages are being formed at the national as well as the EU level, but what actually happens at the local level? Which concrete projects exist on a regional or local level to effectively implement short-term measures to fight the economic, social and climate crisis concurrently? Which strategies do cities and councils have in the EU and what role can and has to be attributed at the European level?
These and other questions will be discussed at our 4th European Green Local Councillors meeting. The event is organised by the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament in cooperation with the European Green Party, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the Green Group in the city council of Stuttgart.
We would like to welcome you to discuss these challenges during plenary and workshop sessions with green politicians from local government, national parliaments and the European Parliament. We will find new green ways forward for European local government.
