Slow food convivium conference in Turin

The reform of the Common Agriculture Policy and the future challenges: A conference organised by the Slow Food Convivium in the European Parliament

Conference

Friday 24 October 2008 11:00 - 12:30

Sala Madrid, Lingotto Congressi, Turin (IT)

In the framework of Terra Madre and the Salone del Gusto, the Slow Food Convivium in the European Parliament, "Les Gouts d'Europe", is organising a conference on the impact of the reform of the Common Agriculture Policy face to the challenges that Europe and the world have to deal with.  In the near future, questions such as biodiversity, food security and the use of GMOs in agriculture will be at the heart of the international debate in the fields of agriculture and the health sector.

The hearing aims to discuss about the tools that the CAP reform could give to Europe, and will analyse the worrying points which could get the principles of a "clean, fair and good food" being questioned.

The initiative is organised by the Members of the European Parliament Marie-Hélène Aubert (Greens/EFA), Monica Frassoni (Greens/EFA) and Vincenzo Aita (GUE/NGL), founders of the Slow Food Convivium in the EP.

Participants are Daniele Bianchi, member of the cabinet of the Commissioner for Agriculture Fischer Boel, Gonzalo Saenz de Samaniego Berganzo, President of the GMO Free Regions Network and the delegates of Terra Madre, Gerard Batalla from Catalunia and Silvana Ferrigo from Brazil.
