Claude Turmes
My job here in the European parliament is to work for a world in peace, a world where we remember the catastrophes of the first and second world war, where Europe is becoming a force to prevent new conflicts all over the world; a world with more justice, and a better redistribution of wealth, where everybody has a better chance to live a good life and where we are in peace with nature and environment. It might be that the environment will be the most difficult challenge of this century: We are facing climate change and the risks of nuclear power. All these challenges cannot only be addressed at the local or national level. Therefore we need a strong Europe. In the European Union we can join our forces to have an influence in the world, to work for peace, for a better redistribution of wealth and peace with nature and environment.
